URBAN DEVELOPMENT: STADTTOR LANDAU

Urban development with quality of experience

We are developing a concept for a new urban quarter on the site of the Kaufhof department store in Landau, The building, which was erected in the 1950s and is currently being used by Galeria Kaufhof, shapes the cityscape in the immediate vicinity of the main train station. Together with the city of Landau, local residents and businesses, we are currently in the process of developing sustainable ideas for the site, which is to be upgraded to serve as the new representative "gateway" to the city.

"Our objective is to further enhance the eastern part of Landau's city center and the area around the train station, making it more attractive, and thus capitalize on the enormous amount of development seen over the past ten years."

Michael Ehret

Management of the property already lies with ehret+klein. Seventy percent of the space has been leased to Galeria Kaufhof; the development activities will have no impact on the current lease. Our vision for the redevelopment involves an innovative retail concept with a recreational aspect, therefore offering a decisive advantage over online retailing: shopping as an experience, with service providers and food courts under one roof. We will be designing the architecture and open spaces based on a mixed utilization concept comprising residential, commercial, gastronomy and retail space.
